Mid-1950’s

The Getaway began as a neighborhood tavern, operated by Mayo and Gladys Roth.

1980’S

Ownership passed to the Ackerman family, transforming the establishment into a beloved Chicago Cubs-themed gathering spot.

In 2026, former Executive Chef Mike McCrery took the reins as owner, bringing a renewed focus on quality ingredients, consistency, and hospitality. While introducing a fresh vision, we are committed to preserving the strong Chicago Cubs identity that has made The Getaway a local landmark.

Our baseball themed menu celebrates Southwest Michigan’s bounty, featuring fresh, homemade meals crafted with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Fan favorites include signature burgers such as The Harry Caray, The Wrigleyville Meltdown and The Fun Guy, inspired by Cubs lore and ballpark nostalgia.

Dinner selections like the Switch Hitter T-Bone and RBI Ribs carry the sports theme throughout the menu, while our Mayo Circa 1956 Burger is a special tribute to original owners Mayo and Gladys Roth.
